Subvert is live (with a very special bm_128 release)

Subvert officially went live today. It’s a music streaming platform made by former workers of Bandcamp. It’s quite similar to Bandcamp in a way, but it’s friendlier in the sense that it is co-owned by their makers, artists and fans – and its future will be shaped by the community. They also made sure it cannot be sold to soulless corporations that would inevitably run it into the ground (which happens way too much nowadays, and Bandcamp itself might also go down that road). And the music player doesn’t stop if you switch to another page (an annoying behavior over at Bandcamp), which makes discovery easier and the overall experience more fluid.

I actually became a co-owner of Subvert back in 2024 (I’m member number 1583!), and I’ve uploaded most of the bm_128 releases there. I’ve also decided to support their launch by uploading a Subvert-exclusive EP called “Corona Jams”.

I highly encourage you to check out Subvert. I can almost guarantee that you’ll find interesting independent music there that you’d otherwise miss out on (the genre filter is your friend).

I’m excited to see where this goes, and will keep an eye on how Subvert will expand – and hopefully succeed – in the future. Feel free to tag along and/or become a co-owner (even if you’re not an artist)!
